Christians United for Israel is poised for our most exciting and effective season yet, and we are so thankful to have you standing with us as we embark on the next phase of our journey. For ten years, CUFI has been preparing, establishing key relationships, building the right team, and laying the groundwork for what we finally have the opportunity to do. The last decade was amazing, but we believe we have only just arrived at the beginning of God’s divine purpose for us.
We recently returned from our annual Leadership Summit in San Antonio with over 300 of our national leaders and top donors. The energy in the room over those two days was palpable, as we covered all that CUFI has already done and what we are prepared to do in 2017 and beyond. The recent election was a historic moment, when God turned the tide in our favor and gave us something we haven’t had for eight years direct access and influence with the White House. Until now we have been fighting hard to defend Israel, and we made great progress on campus and in churches and with millennial leaders and relationships with Congress and the media. Those were all good things, but when it came to influencing foreign policy at the top levels of the White House administration, we were operating within an inhospitable environment. Now that has changed, and it has changed rapidly and dramatically.
At Leadership Summit, we unveiled our focus for 2017 as the Jubilee Celebration of Jerusalem’s 50th anniversary of reunification with Israel. This year is very significant from a spiritual perspective. Not only is it the Jubilee year for Jerusalem’s liberation in 1967; it is also the double Jubilee of the 1917 Balfour Declaration that originally promised the Jewish people they could return and have an independent state in their biblical homeland. Already we see signs that 2017 could be another very significant year in Israel’s history, as we anticipate the fulfillment of President Trump’s campaign promise to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem for the first time ever. One of our top priorities this year is sending a loud and clear message to the president that we expect him to keep this promise.
Another top priority is continuing the fight against anti-Semitism and anti-Israel propaganda wherever we find it. One of the ways we do this is through billboards. When an anti-Israel hate group runs an ad spreading lies against Israel or promoting boycotts, divestment, or sanctions (BDS) against the Jewish State, we are quick to respond with the truth. And we tell the truth louder, longer, and in more places than the lies are spread. We did this just recently in two different states.
We discovered that Israel’s enemies were using billboards in Franklin, North Carolina and in South Bend, Indiana to smear Israel and try to poison people’s minds with their hate. Because of our donors who have helped us keep a war chest reserved for exactly this purpose, we were able to launch our own ads in the same place at the end of January. But our four ads, thanking Israel for protecting Christians in the Middle East and fighting our common enemies for us, will be up for ten months!
As exciting as it is to put up these billboards and to look back at all God has enabled CUFI to do so far, we have much more work to do. The political winds in America are shifting very quickly, and we are encouraged to see the promise of a much closer relationship between Washington and Jerusalem than we have seen in a very long time. As that happens, CUFI will be at the forefront of championing that relationship and defending it from the attacks that will surely come. For many years, CUFI has been the largest pro-Israel organization in America. But now, with the divine connections God has given us in this new administration, we are poised to become the most influential pro-Israel organization in America as well. We now have the chance to be closely involved in crafting policies that will benefit both Israel and the United States. This is not the time to sit back, relax, and be content in having won a victory. Now is the time to press in harder and work more diligently than ever to make as much progress as we possibly can over the next several years during this window of opportunity. To do that, we will need your continued support.
If you are able to give again to help us prepare the war chest for the battles we must fight in 2017, your generosity will be greatly appreciated. We also need you to do everything possible to attend the annual Washington DC Summit in July, and bring as many people with you as you can. We are deeply grateful for all of your prayers and everything you have already done to support Israel and CUFI, and in the coming weeks and months we will introduce several new ways for you to play an even greater role in answering the call to bless and defend Israel. Thank you for making such generous sacrifices to stand with us as we stand with God’s people.
Blessings to you and those you love,
Pastor John Hagee,
