Joel 2:1

June 21, 2011

Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Joel 2:1

Christians often sing a song by the same title in our churches and we are jubilant as we sing it however, we must remember that this scripture is a charge to prepare for battle. To “blow the trumpet” is to warn Israel that the enemy is at the door!

Lebanon is stock piling weapons supplied by Iran, Gaza threatens Israelis near the border, Syria is in civil unrest and the King of Jordan is attacked while demonstrators are in the streets! God is blowing the trumpet! The watchmen must respond!

What is the Christian to do when Israel is threatened? Do we pray for the peace of Jerusalem in our closets and then choose to stay quiet and ignore the plight of the Jewish people as described in Isaiah 56:10,

His watchmen are blind, They are all ignorant; They are all dumb dogs, They cannot bark; Sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

Do we pray for the peace of Jerusalem and put feet to our prayers as we heed the call in Isaiah 62:6-7,

6 I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent7 And give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

I encourage you to join Diana and me and thousands of other Christians as we gather in Washington D.C. to show our support for Israel and the Jewish people at a very critical time in their history! We must show record support! We can all do our part to change the hearts of men and women in leadership in their support of Israel.

If not now, then when and if not us, then who?
