Christians United for Israel’s second Jerusalem Summit was a historic event. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuand Jerusalem MayorNirBarkat addressed over 1,000 CUFI members during the Night to Honor Israel at the Jerusalem Convention Center. Prime Minister Netanyahu thanked the audience for their steadfast support of Israel by saying “time after time, through thick and thin, you have stood shoulder to shoulder with our state, and I have come here tonight to thank you for your unwavering friendship.” Click here to read the Prime Minister’s entire speech.
Another highlight of the evening was Pastor Hagee’s presentation of The Israel Pledge to Prime Minister Netanyahu. Pastor Matthew Hagee unrolled the 238 foot scroll containing the signatures of more than 200,000 American Christians who have signed the Israel Pledge.
The following day, over 1,000 Christians marched through the heart of Jerusalem, waving American and Israeli flags. We were greeted warmly by residents and passersby who cheered, shouted their thanks and even threw rose petals at the feet of the marchers. The march ended atSafra Square where the crowd was addressed byPastor Hagee and RabbiShlomo Riskin. Many marchers then joined an Israeli dance troupe dancing to Israeli folk music in the square.
In the days leading up to the two events in Jerusalem, members of participatingCUFI ministries traveled throughout Israel, visiting various holy sites including the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Garden Tomb and Masada.
In addition,CUFI leaders met with Israel’s President Shimon Peres, Israel’s Minister of Defense Ehud Barack and Deputy Foreign Minister DanielAyalon.
