CUFI Launches Sweeping Campaign in Kentucky Backing U.S.-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act

Bipartisan Legislation Being Blocked by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)

November 27, 2018 WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, Christians United for Israel (CUFI) and its legislative arm the CUFI Action Fund launched a sweeping campaign aimed at convincing Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to remove his hold on the U.S.-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act. The bill would formalize a long-standing Memorandum of Understanding that already provides much-needed security assistance to Israel.

The effort began Monday when the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization launched an action alert asking its 4.5 million members to contact Paul’s office in support of the bill. The alert has already generated thousands of responses.

The grassroots action was followed up on Tuesday when the CUFI Action Fund launched a 2 week, $100,000 digital and cable news ad-buy across Kentucky asking voters in the Bluegrass State to call or email Paul’s office and request he stop blocking this vital legislation.

Finally, during the last three days of the week, the Action Fund is placing full page ads in Kentucky’s three largest newspapers, similarly calling attention to Paul’s hold on the bill and asking voters to contact his office.

“CUFI has nearly 110,000 members in Kentucky. The state’s elected officials have a long history of standing with Israel, and just recently Gov. Matt Bevin signed a CUFI-backed executive order prohibiting the state from contracting with companies that boycott Israel. Sen. Paul is way outside the mainstream on this. If the Senator maintains his hold on this bill he is negatively impacting our country’s national security and imperiling our ally Israel,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.

“Enough is enough. Sen. Paul’s misguided and inconsistent foreign policy positions need to be made known to the people of Kentucky. He is there to represent the will of his constituents, and right now, he’s doing the exact opposite,” added CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.

With more than 4.5 million members, Christians United for Israel is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world. CUFI spans all fifty states and reaches millions with its message. Each year CUFI holds hundreds of pro-Israel events in cities around the country. And each July, thousands of pro-Israel Christians gather in Washington, D.C. to participate in the CUFI Washington Summit and make their voices heard in support of Israel and the Jewish people.

The CUFI Action Fund, a non-profit 501 (c) (4), nonpartisan organization, serves as the public policy arm of the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, Christians United for Israel. The Action Fund is dedicated to ensuring the millions of Christian Zionists across the country have their voices heard in our nation’s capital each and every day.
