CUFI Welcomes Senate Passage of Bill Targeting Hezbollah’s Financing

SAN ANTONIO – On Friday, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, welcomed Senate passage of the Hezbollah International Financing Prevention Amendments Act of 2017. This legislation targets foreign governments that support Hezbollah as well as companies and individuals that aid the terrorist organization’s fundraising or recruitment activities.

“Hezbollah is a terrorist army. They’ve killed hundreds of Americans and Israelis and have allied themselves with the butchers in Damascus and the tyrants in Tehran. We must do everything we can to stop this evil organization and this legislation is a good step in the right direction,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.

CUFI has long supported efforts to isolate and defeat Hezbollah, and in recent days CUFI members sent more than 43,000 emails to elected officials in support of the legislation.

“Iran’s emerging stranglehold over a vast swath of the Middle East is a dire threat to the United States and Israel.  And a newly enriched, experienced and emboldened Hezbollah is the tip of Iran’s spear.  This legislation is an important first step in recognizing and countering this threat that will have a real impact on the ground,” noted CUFI founding executive director David Brog.

With more than 3.5 million members, Christians United for Israel is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world. CUFI spans all fifty states and reaches millions with its message. Each year CUFI holds hundreds of pro-Israel events in cities around the country. And each July, thousands of pro-Israel Christians gather in Washington, D.C. to participate in the CUFI Washington Summit and make their voices heard in support of Israel and the Jewish people.
